The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Geneva Africa Headquarters has reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking, a scourge that continues to plague societies worldwide. At the commemoration event marking the International World Day against Trafficking in Persons, held at Camp View Centre, Jalingo, Taraba State, Amb. Dr. Anthony Garba Dorofi, General Services Focal Person for Negotiations, Representations, Communications and Diplomatic Relations, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the organized nature of human trafficking and the need to end exploitation.
The event, organized by International FB CSO, Symbols of Hope, Abuja, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Head Office Abuja, highlighted the IHRC Geneva’s dedication to partnering with local and international bodies to eradicate human trafficking. Amb. Dorofi’s address underscored the IHRC Geneva’s position at the forefront of efforts in the United Nations war on human trafficking.
“IHRC Geneva Africa HQ is committed to collaborating with organizations like NAPTIP to tackle this menace,” Amb. Dorofi stated. “We recognize the gravity of human trafficking and are working tirelessly to raise awareness and support anti-trafficking initiatives.”
The event held on 30th July, 2025 served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies and best practices in combating human trafficking, with a focus on the importance of partnerships and cooperation. The IHRC Geneva Africa HQ’s involvement reinforces its commitment to protecting human rights and promoting justice.
