In a significant development, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) held a high-level consultation meeting with officials of Nasarawa State today 16th September 2025, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr Labaran Shuaibu Magaji. The meeting aimed to fine-tune arrangements for the upcoming special seminar on “Advancing the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and AU Agenda 2063 and UN SDGs through Grants”.
he seminar, scheduled to take place over five days at the end of this 2025, will bring together stakeholders from the APRM, African Union (AU), United Nations (UN), and other experts to explore ways to enhance coherence and synergy between the AU’s Agenda 2063 and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The local organizing committee, composed of representatives from both IHRC and Nasarawa State, has reached an accord to ensure a successful event. With the support of the Nasarawa State Government, the seminar promises to provide a platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and identify potential solutions to advance the APRM and Agenda 2063.
The IHRC Head of Delegation (Africa)/Deputy High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, addressed the meeting, expressing a compelling intent to work together with Nasarawa State in the implementation of the project before the end of 2025. This statement underscores the organization’s commitment to collaborative efforts with the state government, aiming to drive meaningful progress and development through the special seminar on advancing the African Peer Review Mechanism and AU Agenda 2063.
