The IHRC Geneva Africa HQ has today sealed a resolution to partner with Africa’s traditional rulers to confer prestigious awards in recognition of excellence in African traditional sports. The awards will be presented at the IHRC African Indigenous Creativity Congress by the Head of Delegation (Africa) of the International Human Rights Commission, Amb. Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure.
According to the Special Resolution adopted today September 9th, 2025, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Geneva has mandated its Deputy High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Head of Delegation (Africa), Amb. Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with willing Royal Fathers across Africa. The MOU aims to facilitate the biannual organization of the African Indigenous Creativity Congress, a traditional premier event that celebrates Africa’s rich cultural sports heritage and creativity. According to Amb. Dr. Ahure, the first edition of the congress is slated for January 2026 in Accra, Ghana, following successful high-level discussions with Ghanaian stakeholders. This event promises to bring together African thought leaders, policymakers and creatives to share knowledge, showcase innovations and shape the continent’s traditional sports future.
